Farshchian’s new paintings to be unveiled

TEHRAN, 8/31/2015 (MNA) – Two new works of Iranian veteran artist, Mahmoud Farshchian will be unveiled next Sunday in Tehran.Two exquisite pieces of Master Farshchian will be unveiled on next Sunday, Seyed Hassan Saheb the representative of Mahmoud Farshchian a master of Persian painting and miniatures told the local media on Saturday.

The two works are called Sham-e-Ghariban (The night of the dispossessed) and Aseman-e-Chaharom (The fourth heaven) and are the newest works of the master.

The ceremony will be held in the Museum of Master Mahmoud Farshchian, which is a museum devoted to the works of the master, in Sa’adabad Historical and Cultural Complex in north of Tehran.

The museum was set up by the Cultural Heritage Foundation and was inaugurated in 2001.

Farshchian is known as Iran’s master of miniatures, whose works have been displayed in numerous galleries and museums around the world such as the British Library, Freer Gallery of Art, Bibliotheque Nationale, Metropolitan Museum and Harvard University.

Farshchian was chosen as an outstanding 21st century intellectual by Cambridge and has received an honorary doctorate in fine arts.

Born on January 24, 1930, Farshchian has been exhibited in 57 individual shows and 86 group shows in Iran, Europe, America and Asian countries. His works are represented in several museums and major collections worldwide. He has been awarded more than ten prizes by various art institutes and cultural centers. He has a doctorate (grade 1 in arts) in Iranian painting and Islamic arts from the High Council of Culture and Art.
