Tehran, 9/9/2015 – Scholars from different countries will attend a two-day international conference on ‘World Tourism Day’ on September 27 and 28.
The conference, which is arranged by Allameh Tabatabai University and Tehran Municipality, will be held at Milad Tower on September 27 and the Management and Accounting Faculty of Allameh Tabatabai University on September 28.
Professors of Tourism Research at Griffith University David Weaver and Ralf Buckley, Associate Professor at the Center for Advanced Studies on Islam, Science and Civilization (CASIS) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Syamsuddin Arif and Professor of Hospitality and Tourism at the University of Wisconsin-Stout Jafar Jafari will hold workshops during the event.
The festival aims to create a permanent platform for local and international researchers in order to work on the main subjects of Iran’s tourism industry to present the findings in an international conference.
It also recommends policy-making packages for planners, decision makers and main and active figures in the state tourism in public and private levels including municipalities, chamber of commerce, professional institutes and specialized parent companies.
World Tourism Day is celebrated each year on September 27. It aims to foster awareness among the international community on the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic values, Tehran Times reported.
The day seeks to address global challenges outlined by the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and to highlight the contribution the tourism sector can make in reaching these goals.
